Journal 9-10-10
Well today is actually the 11th. I am playing catch-up on journal entrys because last night when we got back from the most awful 2.5 hour drive EVER, I went right to bed.
Let me tell you about the day. In the morning our group met Irene’s Daugheter who spoke perfect English and was going to come on our trip. Our group, a total of 8 loaded into a small SUV. The first stretch of driving must have been about an hour, and it took us to a Crocodile farm.

This was a very extensive farm that had probably about 2,000 crocs total. They were breeding them for eventual release into the wild. The have started doing this because Crocodiles are endangered in this part of the world.
We did a lot on this day so I need to keep moving along. After a couple of hours we hopped back in the car and headed off to our next stop. Which was a set of historical tribal carvings/temples that were by the ocean.

There were two other parts to this area that I don’t have space to show. These carvings are believed to have been done around 600 C.E. Next we went to another area of historical significance, with similar carvings.
The second area was much larger and had an enormous green lawn, hills, rocks, and was an incredibly aesthetically pleasing place to be. We ate lunch here and then started to look around.

These temples are also from around 600 C.E.

This area was incredibly beautiful and a welcome get away from the trash and noise of the rest of India.

Indian boys love taking pictures with John. Hahaha. This is one of two times that it happened on this specific outing. It also happened to me later at the next location.
After several hours we went to the stone carving area. This village is known specifically for its stone carving. Most people bought stuff, I refrained.

Then we went to another temple.

Someone sold me an incredibly bad cricket bat for the equivalent of 2 US dollars.
Our last stops were the beach temple and the beach itself.

The drive back to ICSA was hot, sweaty, wet, claustrophobic, polluted and altogether awful. At one point we were stopped in exhaust fumes and gridlock for probably 20 minutes. My head was throbbing when we made it out of the car and I went to sleep.
